My Very First Photography Workshop

At the beginning of November, I attended my very first photography workshop — and I should have done it much sooner! The workshop was led by Boris Michaliček (@borievky), whose guidance and approach truly elevated the whole experience.

I started shooting landscapes four years ago, and until that workshop I had never photographed side by side with another photographer. I had never talked to anyone about the way I shoot or edit my photos. Whenever I did meet another photographer, it was completely by chance. And after this past weekend, I realized how much I had actually been missing out on.

Workshops with experienced photographers can give you so much: direct feedback, new ways of seeing a scene, fresh creative inspiration, and practical tips you would never discover on your own. Shooting together lets you compare approaches in real time and understand how others think about light, composition, and timing. And above all, it’s incredibly motivating — being surrounded by people who share the same passion pushes you to grow faster and enjoy the process even more. Participating in workshops isn’t just about learning; it’s about connecting with a community that elevates your photography to the next level.
